New Printed Coupon Barcodes...One of These Things is Not Like the Other!

While we were all ringing in the New Year, it seems as though many coupon servers were ringing in new barcodes!  Newer is better, right?  Well, not so much...since these new coupons won't scan at Shaw's...EEK!

The coupon on bottom shows the traditional square barcode in the lower left hand corner.  Apparently, this is the only barcode that the Shaw's registers pick up.  The top coupon was just printed yesterday, and the square barcode is mysteriously missing!  Without this, the coupon will not scan.  Since it is common practice for some less honest couponers to create fraudulent printed coupons, if it doesn't scan, it doesn't pass.

To Dan and the rest of the wonderful customer service team at Shaw's...PLEASE make your cashiers and managers aware of this error.  Do not hold this against us honest couponers, and allow manual entry until your systems are up to speed!

Thank you!!!

$1 Off ANY Vicks Product Makes for Cheap or Free Tissues!

This happened a few months ago, and P&G has done it again!  Yesterday's insert included a coupon for $1 off any Vicks product, with a couple of exclusions, but not this one!  The last time this coupon came out CVS had the single packs on sale for $1 each, so they were free!  Even without a sale, this is a great deal, especially this time of year.

I Have a New Favorite Coupon Site!

I just fell in love with the Pillsbury Coupons and Promotions page!  Head over there for $.60/1 Chex Mix (to make my earlier posting a much better deal) as well as $.85/1 Muir Glen product, $.60/1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch and so many more!!!

Crest Advanced Vivid Toothpaste Overage at Walmart!

I noticed a post on the Coupon Chicks of Maine Facebook Page from reader Kati about the $7 Crest Whitening Products coupon in today's P&G insert.  The coupon specifically lists "Advanced Vivid" as an eligible product, so you can use the $7 coupon on the toothpaste priced at $3.93 at Walmart for $3.03 overage!!!

Thanks Kati!

Chex Mix Catalina plus Shaw's Scenario!!!

One request of my husband's that I was able to resist last night was his desire for Chex Mix.  It's on sale this week 2/$4, but that's not good enough for me...or at least it wasn't until I got my Catalina deal printouts at the register!

Now through January 22nd you can earn up to $3 back for buying any Chex Mix or Chex 100 Calorie Snack (4.5 ounce or larger):

Buy 3 Get $1
Buy 4 Get $2
Buy 5 or more Get $3

Deal Idea:

Buy 6 for $12 Sale Price
Use 3 $.50/2 currently available on three different sites:
Coupons.com
SmartSource and
Coupon Network
This will make it possible for even those with only one computer to get enough!
The coupons will double for a savings of $3
Pay $9 for 6, $1.50 each a 50% savings
Plus, earn a $3 Catalina

This is based on the current sale, however I have seen Shaw's include these in their $1.88 General Mills deal, so it may be worth waiting until closer to the end of the promotion!

New Year's Eve at Shaw's!!!

This week's Shaw's trip included a lot of non-couponing items, but here are the highlights!

Huggies Santa Diapers, marked down to $6 each!  I found three at the Windham store, plus I had 2 $1/1 Huggies and 1 $2/1, so I paid $14 for three packs.  I don't care if they look like Santa pants, they get the job done!  On top of that, there is a Catalina deal going right now for $5 back when you buy two participating Huggies diapers or Pull-Ups Products.

I grabbed a pack of Pull-Ups for $9.49, and used 1 $2/1 Huggies Pull-Ups to bring those down to $7.49.  I would have paid $21.49 for four packs of diapers (a savings of 51%), and earned $10 back, but wait, it gets better!  The Catalina didn't print at the register because the discounted diapers scanned in as reduced items, not as the actual product.  I went to customer service, and they gave me the $10 in cash!

Final cost, only $11.49 for four packs of diapers...that's only $1 more than the regular price for one pack!

New Year's Eve at Walmart!

Last night's Walmart trip was yet another "if I hadn't let him talk me into that, the savings would have been so much better" sort of lesson.  The culprit this time; crackers, lots and lots of crackers.  Here's the rundown:
