Tonight's Treasure Hunting at Shaw's...Check Out My Booty!

Tonight's mission started with instant gratification when I found the LARGE tubs of Athenos Feta reduced at the store level by $3!  Stacked with the $.75/1 Facebook Coupon, I got two for only $2.49 each.  That's the same price as the small tubs would have been!

Next, I spotted another Manager's Special for $1 off Sabra Hummus.  Combined with the sale price of $3.99, I grabbed one of the large containers for only $2.99.

As I strolled through the store, I spotted a Coors Light display with new coupons!  This time, they are sponsoring $2 off any Hormel Deli Tray priced at $15.00 or more OR any deli purchase of $15.  The last two deals I mentioned really came in handy.  I already had deli ham, turkey and cheese in my cart totaling around $10.  When you add in the feta and hummus (considered deli items) this coupon saved me an unexpected extra $2!!!

Last, but certainly not least, overage!!!  I don't eat tuna, but my office is having a food drive next week and it's on the wish list, so that means it's on my list too!  I had four $.50/1 StarKist Pouch coupons, which I expected to use on this week's 2/$3 deal and get them for only $.50.  Then, I found the Lunch To-Go pouches reduced by 50%.  I opted for the Chunk Light option (to the left in the picture) which are regularly priced at $1.79 each.  After the reduction by 50%, and the $.50 coupons which doubled in full, they were all free plus $.42 of overage!!!

For once, I came hope to a happy surprise in my mailbox...free Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara!  Back in September, I was one of the lucky ones to request a free sample during the Allure Magazine One Week of Free Stuff promotion.  That's right...I said September.  It's no wonder I forgot all about it, but I am more than happy to wait five months for such a great product!  Thank you Allure Magazine and P&G!!!

I Got My Free Milk...Eventually!

I am happy to report that the issue of using a coupon on milk in Maine given the state minimum pricing wasn't an issue at all.  Unfortunately, the representative at the Walmart service desk took it upon herself to create an issued out of this Coupon.

First, the good news:

Great Value Milk is priced at $3.76, within the $4 maximum allowed by the coupon
I chose a dozen Great Day Eggs as one of the three required breakfast items
They are priced at $2.28, and I used a $1 off coupon from their Facebook Page (no longer available)
My husband requested Cinnamon Toast Crunch so I got two, priced at $2.98 each
I used a $1.75 off 2 General Mills Cereals coupon (no longer available, check your binder!)

Total before any coupons $12.00
After Free Milk and other Coupons, I paid $5.49 for everything!
That's a savings of 54%, unheard of when Milk is such a large part of the purchase

I also came up with a plan for my next breakfast items...bagels and cream cheese!!!!!

I will be making good use of my $1 off 2 Lenders Bagels and Country Crock Spread coupon from the March issue of All You Magazine!  I will get two packages of bagels and some Weight Watchers Cream Cheese with my $.75 off coupon from the February issue of All You...I love this magazine!!!

Now for the not-so-good news...

I was very proactive and honest by heading right to the service desk before starting shopping.  I brought a copy of the state milk pricing policy with me showing that a coupon for milk can be used if it's not brand-specific.  The representative then doubted if the coupon was within their coupon acceptance policy because of the format requiring the purchase of vague products to get a free item.  I knew exactly what she was thinking of; their price matching policy.  Instead of simply reading what coupons they do and do not accept, and finding that this coupon was within their policy, she repeatedly referenced the price and ad matching policy.  She was working SO hard to prove that this coupon couldn't be used, all the while saying their coupon policy is so vague and what's written doesn't cover everything.

Really???  Why is it so important to you that you try for ten minutes to find something that doesn't exist just to stop me from using a completely legitimate coupon???  I was irritated, and after a while I couldn't help letting it show.  When she continued to flip through her book, curling the pages up so I couldn't see what she was reading, I asked to see what she was seeing.  I when through each bullet point of the coupon policy and found NOTHING to even suggest that this coupon was not acceptable.  I then pointed out for the fifth time that she kept referencing the price match policy regarding un-specified prices on required purchases in order to get a free item.  I said she needed to move on from that particular topic because it had nothing to do with my coupon.

She again referenced the vague nature of the policy and said she would ask a manager.  The first manager she asked wasn't sure, she kept saying it was his decision.  If he said no because he wasn't sure, I was prepared to march right out of there and never look back.  They then called another manager who said she needed to see the coupon to make a decision.  She checked all of the usual items; expiration, maximum value, remittance address, etc.  She saw no problem with the coupon and didn't even begin to question the requirements.  I guess now we know why she's the manager...I just can't wait to do this three more times :-)

*FREE MILK* and YES, You Can Use it in Maine!!!

I know what you're thinking, "it's illegal to use Milk coupons in Maine".  Well, not in this case!  Here is the language I found right in the law itself:

"A purchaser of milk at retail may tender a coupon or any item of value if the coupon or item of value is not brand specific and is redeemable for cash by the retailer and if the total value tendered by the purchaser is not less than the minimum retail price established by the commission."

Basically, if the coupon is for a specific brand, thus giving that dairy an advantage over others, then it can't be used in Maine.  This coupon is valid on ANY milk, so every dairy has an equal chance that you will use it to purchase their product...SCORE!!!

Sharing the Saving...$4 off 10 Weight Watchers Smart Once

I was just flipping through my March/April issue of Weight Watchers magazine and came across a printable coupon only available through the magazine.  Well, anyone can get it!  Save $4 on 10 Smart Ones products HERE.  These are priced at $1.97 at Walmart, so after the coupon they will be $1.57 each WYB 10!

Shaw's Match-Ups for 2/24-3/1

Before you head out, here are some Shaw's basics...

Shaw's doubles coupons up to and including $.99, with a maximum of four like-coupons doubled per customer per day.  A recent change to their coupon policy is no longer accepting competitor Catalina coupons for a set dollar amount off your entire purchase.  Shaw's will still accept true manufacturer coupons for a specific value off a specific product which print from other stores' Catalina machines.

If you experience difficulty with the new barcodes not scanning and cashiers resisting manual entry, stores have now been sent communications twice about this issue per Dan on their Facebook page.  They have been told to manually enter these coupons until software updates are completed...you are likely to be better informed than the staff, so stand up for yourself!

Before heading out, don't forget to head over to Recyclebank, earn some points, and "buy" a $5 off $50 Shaw's coupon...it will only take a few minutes to sign up, complete a few tasks, and save even more!
